![]() Between each dump and fill the fluid needs to get fully mixed in so that probably means shifting through all the gears, getting the system up to operating temp and driving maybe 10 miles or so at the minimum. In order to get about 90% of the fluid changed out your need to do about 4 dump and fills. The system holds about 9 quarts but you only drain about 3 quarts in a single dump and fill. So, how often should this three times flush be preformed? Should I use DW-1 from now on over MaxLife Z-1? Should I get the Z-1 fluid out as soon as possible? Will it cause damage? Any help is appreciated. I know that not all of the fluid is taken out of the trans when draining so I understand that some dirty stuff can be left behind. ![]() Should I go ahead and preform another trans fluid change at 90000 miles just because but use DW-1 instead of Z-1? Also, I noticed people were talking about a three flush method and I am unsure what that means exactly and how often to actually change the fluid. This was probably the first time in 68000 miles that the trans fluid had been changed. My question is this: When I acquired my Ridgeline a few months ago, I drained the trans fluid and filled it with Valvoline MaxLife because I didn't know that DW-1 was the preferred method. There have been a few other who swear by Valvoline's MaxLift ATF Z-1. I have been reading a lot on this forum regarding what type of trans fluid to use and it appears that most people use Honda's ATF DW-1.
